Sydney is located 33
degrees 55' south of the equator with similar latitude to Cape Town
and Buenos Aires in the Southern Hemisphere, and Los Angeles,
Casablanca and Beirut in the Northern Hemisphere.
Sydney Metropolitan is
one of the largest cities in the world in terms of area. Reaching
across 4000 square kilometres, it is equal in size to London and
almost double that of New York City. Approximately one-in-five
Australians or 4 million people live in the Sydney Metropolitan area.
PLPS is located in Manly Beach, a suburb of Sydney.
For almost a
century, her sparkling harbour waters on one side and the
rolling Pacific breakers on the other have transported
Manly-goers “a thousand miles from care”.
Today, just a few
minutes’ walk from the Manly Ferry terminal brings visitors to the cafés, boutiques and al fresco coffee shops of Manly’s famous Corso, which links the sheltered harbour
foreshores and tree-lined Manly Beach.
Here, every year,
Manly hosts beach volleyball
contests, surf competitions, an international jazz festival,
and an annual food and wine festival.
Coming from the
city, the easiest way to get here is to catch one of Manly’s
grand old ferries from Circular Quay, with frequent
departure and return trips (30 minutes duration) scheduled
seven days a week.
